Craft your own octagonal frame drum and mallet, and some good vibrations!

Day 1 - Give a smooth shape to an octagonal wooden frame, cut raw hide cord and a drum head from a whitetail deer skin. Stretch the wet rawhide, attach the drum head, and tune your new drum. Set aside to dry.

Day 2 - While the drum is drying…. Construct a mallet with a seasoned hardwood stick, backstrap sinew, wool stuffing, love and buckskin. Combine it all together, add your voice, and play some music!

Take home a beautiful instrument you crafted with your own hands, and a few soulful songs to share with your tribe. 

All drum building materials: frames, rawhide, sinew, buckskin, seasoned dogwood drum sticks, and tool use is included in the cost. We also encourage you to bring your own wood carving tools: knives, rasps, cabinet scrapers, etc.,  if you have them.
